I have been visiting Dalkeith Country Park since I attended school – let’s just say that was some time ago! More recently I often walk my dogs in the park as it is such a beautiful woodland area, not to mention the perfect morning coffee stop!
Each season as you can imagine the landscape in the park changes, and my favourite is autumn, the vibrant colours of the leaves are spectacular, both on the trees and when they fall.
I contacted The Restoration Yard about doing a photoshoot, just at the time they were thinking about having shots taken to promote the location as a wedding venue. We decided that we would do two shoots on one day, ambitious I know! The first would create promotional photographs for the venue and the second a more styled woodland shoot.
I had a vision of our model in the middle of the woods wearing an ethereal style wedding gown with lots of candles surrounding her. Picking the dress was easy, a gorgeous gold coloured gown from our Stella York collection and from this inspiration I sourced crates, little items, including candles to surround our beautiful model Rosalind.
We were all ready and could not wait for this shoot to happen however the day prior had to cancel as there was a weather warning for rain and high winds – it is Scotland after all. The second date was dry and warm, we just could not have wished for a more perfect day.
While hair and make-up artist Helen from City Brides was transforming our model we set up for the first shoot, with the help of Roni from All Wrapped Up and the Restoration Yard team. Roni provided storm lanterns and chairs to dress the stunning Orangery in the heart of the park and we added simple touches of delicate flowers to finish things off.
Our male model was ready is his kilt attire which was provided by 8 Yards and the wonderful Derek Christie got to work behind the lens.
We chose a beautiful beaded wedding dress by Eliza Jane Howell for Rosalind which was styled perfectly with a bridal bouquet and flower crown by Sweetpeas Floral Design. With the sun shining and the wonderful skills of Derek Christie you could really see the detail of this gorgeous gown in every image.
