How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?
I found out about Sophia Grace Couture because I live in Haddington, so they are local to me. I really liked the idea of supporting a local business, especially for something as important and special as finding my wedding dress.
I had heard lovely things about Sophia Grace and loved the idea of being able to have such an important part of my wedding experience somewhere local. I’m so glad I decided to go!
How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?
My experience was honestly amazing from start to finish. I dealt with Hannah throughout my whole dress-shopping experience, and she was absolutely brilliant.
I went into it not really knowing what I wanted at all. I wasn’t sure what style would suit me, what shape I wanted or even what I should be looking for! Hannah was so good at picking out different styles and basically throwing options at me to try. 😂 She really helped me discover what I liked rather than me having to go in knowing exactly what I wanted.
She was so lovely, patient and easy to talk to, and I never felt pressured. She made the whole experience really enjoyable and personal, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help me find my dress.
Tell us about your dress and why you chose your particular gown
I absolutely loved my dress. It was honestly perfect and everything I had ever imagined my wedding dress would be.
I tried it on and looked in the mirror, and I just knew. There was something about the way I felt in it that was completely different. I didn’t need to overthink it — it was just the one.
It made me feel like a bride, and when I look back at photos now, I know I chose the perfect dress for me.
How did you meet? Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?
We actually met on holiday in Turkey 10 years ago, so Turkey has always been a very special place for us.
One of my favourite things about our wedding was that we got married exactly 10 years to the date of our first date. It made the whole thing feel even more special and meant that Turkey played such a huge part in our story.
Sef proposed to me on top of a mountain in Turkey at sunrise. It was incredibly romantic, although we very nearly missed the sunrise! 🤣 So there was definitely a little bit of panic involved too, but we made it!
What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?
Because our wedding was in Turkey, we wanted to embrace the beautiful surroundings and have a relaxed but elegant Mediterranean feel.
Our colour palette was mainly sage green and gold, with warmer burnt orange tones throughout. I wanted everything to feel romantic, elegant and timeless, but still relaxed and fun.
A lot of our inspiration came from Turkey itself, the sunshine, mountains, sea and beautiful warm colours. We wanted the whole day to feel like us and to create an amazing experience for our friends and family who had travelled to celebrate with us.
What made you decide upon your chosen venue?
The venue was honestly breathtaking. I don’t think I can properly describe how perfect it was.
As soon as we saw it, we knew it was somewhere really special. The setting was incredible and it was exactly the kind of backdrop we had imagined for our wedding in Turkey.
There are some places that you see and immediately think, this is it, and that’s exactly how we felt about the venue.
Tell us about your wedding
We had around 50 of our closest friends and family travel to Turkey to celebrate with us, which made the whole experience incredibly special.
We wanted our wedding to be a celebration not just of getting married, but of bringing all the people we love together in a place that means so much to us.
Having everyone there, surrounded by the mountains, sea and sunshine of Turkey, was just amazing. There was lots of food, drinks, music, dancing and plenty of laughter!
After all the planning that goes into a wedding, it was so lovely to finally be there and actually enjoy it with everyone.
What was the most memorable moment?
I think one of the most memorable parts was simply seeing everything come together after all the planning and finally having all of our family and friends there with us.
There was definitely a moment where I looked around and thought, we’re actually here! 😂
Getting married in Turkey, exactly 10 years after our first date, with around 50 of our closest people there to celebrate with us, is something I’ll never forget.
And of course, walking down the aisle in my Sophia Grace dress and seeing Sef waiting for me was a pretty unforgettable moment too. ❤️
Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?
My biggest piece of advice would be don’t worry if you don’t know what you want!
I went into my appointment with absolutely no idea what style would suit me, but Hannah was brilliant at choosing different dresses and encouraging me to try things I probably wouldn’t have picked for myself.
Trust the process and trust the people helping you. You might surprise yourself with what you end up loving!
And if you’re looking for your dress, I would absolutely recommend Sophia Grace Couture. Having someone like Hannah, who is so lovely and genuinely wants you to find the one, makes such a difference.
