Wedding of Hannah and Scott

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

I discovered Sophia Grace on Instagram while searching for my dream wedding dress. After struggling to find a gown that truly felt like me and matched the vision I’d always had for my wedding day, Sophia Grace immediately stood out. Their Instagram showcased a beautiful range of unique dresses, and the videos of the bridal specialists wearing the gowns brought each design to life in a way that photos alone couldn't. Seeing the incredible selection and how the dresses moved and fit gave me confidence that this was the place I’d been looking for. I booked an appointment straight away!

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

I genuinely can’t put into words how incredible my experience at Sophia Grace was. Before visiting, I had been to several bridal boutiques closer to home, but each appointment left me feeling overwhelmed, pressured, and more confused about what I actually wanted. I found myself second-guessing everything I thought I was looking for in my wedding dress.

From the moment I met Hannah, everything changed. She took the time to sit down with my mum and me, asking thoughtful questions about how I was feeling and what I envisioned for my wedding day. She truly listened to my preferences and understood what would make me feel comfortable, confident, and most importantly, like myself.

One question in particular stood out: “If you could describe your perfect dress, what would it be?” After our conversation, Hannah selected around five dresses for me to try on, explaining that there was one dress in particular that she felt perfectly matched everything I had described.

I decided to try that dress on first — and the moment I stepped into it, I knew. It was everything I had imagined and more. It was absolutely perfect. That was the dress I said yes to that very day, and I honestly cannot thank Hannah enough for making what had felt like a stressful search into such a special, memorable, and magical experience. Sophia Grace exceeded every expectation, and I will always be grateful for the care, expertise, and kindness I received.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

My gown… where do I even begin? I genuinely loved every single thing about it. From the very start, I knew I wanted something simple, classic, and timeless— a dress that would never go out of style. I wanted to feel confident, supported, and comfortable, with the freedom to move and enjoy every moment of my wedding day.

I also knew I wanted a figure-hugging silhouette, but without feeling restricted or uncomfortable. Specifically, I didn’t want a dress that was too tight around my knees. In my mind, finding a dress that ticked all of those boxes felt like a challenge. Yet somehow, Hannah knew exactly what I was looking for.

She brought out a stunning Paloma Blanca gown made from beautiful crepe fabric, featuring a luxurious comfort lining and a flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. The moment I put it on, I knew it was the one. It was everything I had envisioned and more. The fit was incredible, the fabric felt amazing, and it gave me the perfect balance of elegance, comfort, and confidence.

Most importantly, it made me feel beautiful. For the first time during my dress search, I had absolutely no doubts. From the second I saw myself in it, I could picture myself walking down the aisle and knew it was the dress I wanted to wear on my wedding day.

To complete the look, I chose a veil with delicate lace detailing that perfectly complemented the gown and tied everything together beautifully. The whole look felt effortlessly timeless and completely me—more perfect than I could have imagined.

How did you meet? Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

Scott and I first met at high school. Although we weren’t part of the same friendship group, we knew who each other were. It wasn’t until a few years after leaving school that our paths crossed again, when we both started spending time at our local pub with friends. What began as a friendship quickly grew into something more, and it wasn’t long before we both realised our feelings went beyond friendship. We went on our first date, and from that moment on, we’ve been inseparable.

When it came to proposing, Scott planned the most perfect proposal I could have imagined because it was completely us. I am a true homebody, and after buying our first home together, some of my favourite moments were the simple ones—just the two of us enjoying a home-cooked meal, a glass of rosé wine (and a Diet Coke), and settling down to watch a good series together.

After asking my parents for their blessing, Scott planned a cosy evening at home. He cooked an incredible meal, had our drinks ready, and created the perfect atmosphere. Then, completely unexpectedly, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Through tears of pure happiness, I managed to say the easiest and most enthusiastic “YES!” of my life.

It was everything I could have wished for—intimate, thoughtful, and filled with love. Afterwards, we toasted our engagement with a glass of champagne and spent the evening calling our family and closest friends to share our exciting news. It was the most magical night, and a memory I will treasure forever.

What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

From the very beginning, Scott and I wanted our wedding to feel cheerful, fun, and completely reflective of us as a couple. Our vision was to create a relaxed, joyful atmosphere where our family and friends could truly enjoy themselves and celebrate alongside us. We didn't want anything too formal; instead, we focused on creating a warm, welcoming environment filled with happiness and personal touches.

Our colour palette was bright and colourful, chosen to bring energy and positivity to the day. The bridesmaids wore beautiful sage green dresses, while the groomsmen wore matching sage green ties paired with navy suits, creating a fresh and timeless look.

We also incorporated meaningful details that reflected our personalities and story. One of my favourite touches was Scott's Morrison Tartan trews, specially made using my maiden name tartan. It was such a thoughtful and personal addition to his wedding attire.

To complete the relaxed and celebratory atmosphere, we had a saxophone player perform during our drinks reception, playing Ibiza-inspired music. We had fallen in love with this style of entertainment while on holiday together in Ibiza, and it brought exactly the fun, uplifting vibe we wanted for our wedding day.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

Choosing the right venue was incredibly important to us. We wanted somewhere that was easy for our family and friends to travel to, while also offering the option for guests to stay both the night before and the night of the wedding. Creating a relaxed, enjoyable experience for everyone was a big priority.

Norton House Hotel had always been on our radar due to its award-winning reputation and convenient location close to home, so we arranged a visit. The moment we arrived, we could immediately picture our wedding there. The hotel perfectly combined everything we were looking for—it felt warm and cosy, yet modern, elegant, and peaceful at the same time.

When we viewed the Garden Suite, we were completely sold. The stunning floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the space with natural light, creating the most beautiful bright and airy setting. It felt fresh, welcoming, and perfectly suited to the relaxed atmosphere we wanted to create.

It was everything we had hoped for in a venue and provided the perfect backdrop for what turned out to be the most incredible day. To make it even more memorable, we were lucky enough to enjoy the hottest day in March, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees, allowing us and our guests to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

The morning began with Scott and I getting ready separately alongside our bridesmaids and groomsmen. Despite the excitement and inevitable nerves, we both had such a relaxed and enjoyable start to the day, spending precious time with some of our favourite people. There was so much laughter, anticipation, and happiness in the air.

Every single person who helped bring our day together was incredible. Our suppliers went above and beyond, the team at Norton House Hotel were impeccable, and our friends and family made every moment feel even more special. We felt so loved and supported throughout the entire day.

Before we knew it, it was time for our ceremony. The sun was shining brilliantly, and the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows of the Garden Suite allowed the most stunning natural light to fill the room. It created the most magical setting as we exchanged our vows.

Our ceremony was deeply personal and meaningful, sharing our journey together, celebrating the life we had built as a couple, and bringing our two families together as one. It was emotional, heartfelt, and one of our favourite moments of the entire day.

One of the best decisions we made was having our speeches immediately after the ceremony. It allowed Scott, my Dad, and Scott’s brother to enjoy the rest of the day without the anticipation of speaking hanging over them. Thanks to the incredible weather, our guests gathered outside in the beautiful gardens with a drink in hand while we listened to some truly unforgettable speeches filled with love, laughter, and happy tears.

Afterwards, we spent time taking family, group, and couple photographs around the hotel grounds while our guests enjoyed drinks and were entertained by our fantastic saxophone player. The atmosphere was everything we had hoped for—relaxed, joyful, and full of energy.

The saxophonist then led us into our wedding breakfast, creating the most incredible atmosphere as our guests cheered us into the room. It was such a fun and memorable moment.

Our first dance was to A Million Faces by Paolo Nutini, followed by 12 to 12 by Sombr, which immediately got everyone onto the dance floor. From that moment on, we danced the night away surrounded by the people we love most.

Looking back, the entire day felt like a dream. Every moment was filled with love, laughter, and happiness, and we feel so incredibly lucky to have shared it with the most amazing family and friends. It truly was the best day of our lives

What was the most memorable moment?

Without a doubt, my most memorable moment was walking down the aisle towards Scott, with my amazing dad by my side.

In the lead-up to the wedding, I had been so nervous about that walk. It felt like such a big moment, and I worried about all the emotions that would come with it. But when the time finally arrived, everything else faded away. Instead of nerves, I felt completely overwhelmed with love.

Walking towards the love of my life while holding my dad’s arm was one of the most special moments I have ever experienced. Having my dad beside me for such an important milestone is a memory I will treasure forever. It was an incredible honour to share that moment with him, and one that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Then I saw Scott. After spending the entire morning excited to see him, finally locking eyes with him at the end of the aisle brought a rush of emotion that is difficult to put into words. It felt surreal—almost like a "pinch me" moment. Part of me couldn't believe it was really happening, while another part wished time would stand still so I could stay in that moment forever.

Looking back, what made it so unforgettable was the overwhelming feeling of gratitude and love. In that single moment, I was surrounded by the people who mean the most to me—walking arm in arm with my wonderful dad, seeing my beautiful mum watching proudly, and looking ahead to the man I was about to marry. Being surrounded by the love of my parents and my future husband made me feel incredibly lucky, deeply loved, and completely present in the moment.

It's a feeling that is almost impossible to describe, but it is a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life and one that I hope everyone gets the chance to experience.

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

My biggest piece of advice for future brides is to try not to put too much pressure on yourself and allow yourself to enjoy the experience. Finding your wedding dress should be a special and exciting part of your wedding journey, not something that feels stressful or overwhelming.

I know firsthand how easy it is to arrive with an idea of what you think you want, only to wonder if it going to be right for you. That's why it's so important to keep an open mind and trust the process. Hannah and the team at Sophia Grace Couture are incredibly experienced and genuinely take the time to listen to you, understand your vision, and help you find a dress that makes you feel like the very best version of yourself.

My advice would be to trust their expertise and be open to their suggestions. When Hannah asked me to describe my perfect dress, I told her exactly what I was looking for, but honestly, I wasn't convinced that a dress with all of those qualities actually existed. Somehow, Hannah managed to find a gown that matched my vision to a tee. It was everything I had described and more, and I'm so grateful that I trusted her guidance and experience throughout the process.

If you're visiting Sophia Grace Couture, you're in wonderful hands. The team create such a warm, supportive environment, and they truly want every bride to leave feeling confident, beautiful, and excited for their big day.
