How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?
When looking for dresses briefly I came across a designer I loved, and Sophia Grace Couture stocked dresses from this designer. Looking at their page and reviews I was so impressed, and I knew I wanted to book an appointment at Sophia Grace Couture
How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?
This was my first and only appointment I had booked. The girls were so welcoming and prior to visiting I explained about wanting to bring my daughter along who is in a wheelchair. They were so accommodating with her and made this experience stress free. Charlotte was so helpful and put me at ease throughout the appointment as picking a wedding dress can feel overwhelming. I was so relaxed during my appointment and there were loads of dresses to pick from and WOW such a beautiful shop.
Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown
I originally had a certain dress in mind which I kept to the last to try on. I knew I wanted a fitted gown with a long train so Charlotte helped me pick out 6 dresses which I could try. All the dresses were lovely but having a bigger bust when showing the dresses to my family I noticed I looked uncomfortable due to this. The dress I picked was my 3rd dress that I tried on. The reaction from my family and how I was feeling when I tried it on, I knew it was the one. However, I continued to try the other dresses on as I really wanted to try the dress I originally wanted. The dress I said yes to is so detailed and beautiful that I felt the others didn’t compare to this one. I feel my dress is such a statement and knew it had to be that one. I felt like a princess when I tried it on and knew it would be absolutely beautiful for my big day!!
How did you meet? Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?
We both knew of each other but had never spoke to each other. We met online and that is how we started to speak and arranged our first date. Our relationship moved quite quickly and after 2 years of being in a relationship and moved in with each other we went on our first big holiday to Sorrento. My husband planned dinner one night which I found unusual as I am always the planner. We had dinner at a rooftop restaurant watching the sunset when my husband got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was such an amazing night and one I won’t forget! We booked our wedding a month after getting home and got married 2 years later!!
What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?
I knew I wanted a big wedding as we both have a lot of family and friends. We went for navy to match my husband’s kilt which was passed down from his papa who sadly passed away a few years prior to our wedding. I didn’t have a specific theme Pinterest was my best friend when wedding planning getting loads of ideas of things I would like to incorporate into our wedding. I wanted to have a busy wedding with entertainment for our guests. It was the most magical day, and everything was just as I had envisioned it would be and more.
What made you decide upon your chosen venue?
I saw pictures of another wedding and loved the look of the venue. We got married at the Redhurst in Giffnock the venue and the honeymoon suite was beautiful. We live local to the venue as well so do most of our guests so we thought it would have been ideal for travelling also. The staff were so friendly, and I just had a good feeling when we went to visit it, and we booked our wedding the same day!! I saw pictures of another wedding and loved the look of the venue. Tell us about your wedding
Our day was absolutely perfect all the planning was worth it. I loved seeing our ideas all come together. It really was an amazing day from the morning to the end of the night. Getting to marry the love of my life surrounded by all our loved ones was a dream come true. Seeing everyone enjoy our big day made all the stress and worry worth it. I had many of sleepless night worrying things would go wrong and I can’t tell you how many dreams I had of everything going wrong!!! I had the most amazing family and best friends around me genuinely happy to see me take this next chapter in my life. I can’t believe how fast it went, and I would relive that day over and over if I could!!!
What was the most memorable moment?
I had so many memorable moments throughout the day. I think walking down the aisle seeing my husband at the end waiting for me. Seeing his face when he finally got to see my dress he had been dying to see for the first time! (His predictions were all wrong). His words were “that dress is absolutely out of this world”. I immediately felt relaxed and at home when I walked down the aisle seeing my best friend. Sharing my day with my beautiful daughter was so bittersweet as I won’t get to share the experience of her getting married. She was the absolute star of the show I think people were more excited to see her coming down the aisle than me. She had many guests in tears!! I danced the full day and night away and enjoyed every single second of it. Having everybody compliment me and my dress was such a great feeling. I really did feel amazing on my wedding day!
Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?
Enjoy every second of picking out your wedding dress. It can feel overwhelming but don’t worry the girls at Sophia Grace Couture will make you feel relaxed and give you the best experience ever!! I can’t recommend you guys enough what a wonderful experience. Take it all in and enjoy every minute of trying on all those beautiful dresses and bring along people who will help keep you feeling relaxed and make it such a memorable day for you!
