Wedding of Kim and Ryan
How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?
A few of my friends had previously bought their wedding dresses from Sophia Grace Couture, including one of my best friends who I was a bridesmaid for. I was lucky enough to be part of her wedding dress shopping experience, and I remember leaving that day thinking that this was where I wanted to go to find my own dress. When the time came, it was the only place I booked — and it didn’t disappoint!
How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?
I found the experience very intimate and personal. The shop itself is welcoming and beautiful, and the staff are passionate and kind. Charlotte picked out the dress that ended up being the one for me! I felt incredible in my wedding dress, and nothing I tried on afterwards compared. Charlotte was very professional and kind and helped make me feel at ease. I was nervous before going wedding dress shopping as I was only six months postpartum and didn’t know how I would feel trying dresses on, but those nerves disappeared as soon as I arrived. The shop has such a calm ambience.
Tell us about your dress and why you chose your gown
I chose the Tucker gown by Wona Concept. I had seen it on the Instagram page before my appointment and thought it was gorgeous, but I wasn’t sure it would suit me or if I’d feel confident enough to try it on. When I went for my appointment, Charlotte suggested I try it. It was the first dress I put on and nothing afterwards compared.
I loved the pearl cape and felt it tied in perfectly with our winter wedding. The dress was comfortable, and I genuinely felt amazing in it!
How did you meet? Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?
We met through mutual friends. A friend had actually tried to set us up five years earlier, but I was too busy travelling to want to settle down. Five years later, his name came up again — and this time I said definitely yes!
We started chatting over Instagram and arranged to meet, and from that first date we were inseparable. We bought our first home together, went on holidays, and that eventually led to the proposal in Rome.
My partner walked around all day carrying the ring and hid it so well that I had no idea — even when he got stopped at security at the Colosseum! It was the best surprise, and of course the only answer was YES. We welcomed our gorgeous son, Lewis, into the world in August 2024 and set our wedding date for 2025. We loved having him as part of our special day.
What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?
We had a winter wedding and opted for ivory and foliage, which tied everything together beautifully. The bridesmaids wore navy, which worked perfectly for winter colours. The venue was stunning, with chandeliers and grand rooms, and had a warm, tranquil colour palette. I loved how elegant the rooms looked, and our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was. We also had a string quartet, which really helped create the ambience we wanted.
What made you decide upon your chosen venue?
We chose our venue because we had that immediate feeling of “this is the one” when we went to view it. It was beautiful, and I could instantly picture myself getting married there. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. When I saw the ceremony room on the day of the wedding, I couldn’t have been happier — it was exactly as I had imagined.
Tell us about your wedding. What was the most memorable moment?
I don’t think I could pick just one moment — the day was incredible from start to finish. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much!
