Wedding of Lauren and Max
How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?
I found the shop after searching on Instagram and knew it was somewhere I'd love to visit because of the huge choice and lovely aesthetic. I love how active they are on social media, showing all the different styles and options before you go into the shop. It's so helpful to see some options beforehand and help your vision come alive.
How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?
It was exactly how I had hoped dress shopping would be. The shop is beautiful, with a huge selection and the opportunity to try on a range of styles. I was supported by Charlotte, who really understood my vision and created a fun, warm and uplifting experience for both me and the family members who came with me. Charlotte actually picked my dress for me after I explained what I was looking for.
Tell us about your dress and why you chose your particular gown.
My dress was by Enzoani, and I chose it because I felt really confident wearing it. I wanted something that would stand out and highlight my silhouette, and the dress certainly delivered. I think it was something people wouldn't have expected, with the patterned bodice, low back, detailing and sparkle throughout. I loved it when I first tried it on, and I was so happy with it on my wedding day too.
How did you meet? Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?
We met on the first day of college in August 2013. We were in the same class and, after a few weeks, got chatting. The rest is history.
Max proposed on 10 November 2024.
We were going to Crieff Hydro for our 11-year anniversary and decided to stop in South Queensferry for breakfast on the way. Afterwards, Max suggested we go for a walk around the town to a bakery he liked. We had forgotten there would be Remembrance Sunday commemorations on the main street, so we ended up walking along the beach instead. However, this created the perfect intimate setting with beautiful views. It was there, just the two of us on the beach, that Max got down on one knee, visibly shaking and nervous!
What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?
I didn't necessarily have a specific inspiration, but I knew I wanted it to be soft and natural, keeping everything simple and elegant. I chose white flowers with touches of light pink, and I was really pleased with how all the décor came together. It was exactly how I had pictured it.
What made you decide upon your chosen venue?
We had viewed a couple of venues before making our decision, but when we visited Seamill Hydro on a sunny day in June 2025, we were sold. We were blown away by the beachfront setting and the amazing views from both the ceremony and reception rooms. The colour scheme at the venue matched my vision, and I could really see myself getting married there more than at any of the other venues we visited. We both knew it was the perfect venue for us from the moment we saw it. It was an added bonus that the staff were incredible and made the whole experience so easy and enjoyable.
Tell us about your wedding.
We would both agree that it was the most special day ever, and we had the time of our lives. It was filled with love, laughter, dancing and good food. We wanted it to feel like a party from start to finish, giving our guests a wedding experience they wouldn't forget.
What was the most memorable moment?
It's hard to pick just one moment because there were so many special memories that I'll treasure. However, for me, it was the morning when everyone was getting ready. There was so much chatter, music and fun, with drinks flowing and our fantastic suppliers helping us all prepare. I paused for a moment, looked around and thought, "This is what it's all about."
Spending time with my best friends and our mums while getting ready for one of the most important days of my life felt incredibly special. I knew it was a moment I'd never experience again with everyone together in the same room, and it was the perfect start to the day.
Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?
My advice would be to go in with an open mind and try on a range of styles. For me personally, the dresses looked very different once they were on than they did on the hanger. Another tip would be to take supportive people with you who will be honest with their opinions. It's a really big decision, and you want to be 100% sure of your choice. Once you think you've found the right dress, take lots of photos. You'll want to look back on them and be reminded of the excitement and how you imagined it would look on the big day.
