Wedding of Rebecca and Matthew

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

The gown that I chose was a ‘Wona Concept’ gown and it popped up on my feed because as all brides know, your social media feeds become full of wedding content! I immediately fell in love with the gown that I saw and I screenshot it immediately. This resulted in me Google searching what bridal shops stocked ‘Wona Concept’ gowns as I just knew I had to try it on! Sophia Grace Couture was one of the first shops that came up and it looked so beautiful.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

My experience at Sophia Grace Couture was perfect from start to finish. Firstly, the shop itself is absolutely stunning! It is beautifully decorated and organised with many dresses of all different styles. The shop is intimate as it is only you and your party in it which added an element of luxury.

The staff at Sophia Grace Couture are wonderful. From initial emails to final fittings, I cannot fault the attentiveness, professionalism and warmth of the staff. Charlotte was a dream when she led my appointment. She not only organised trying on my dream dress, but she took the time to consider other dresses that I might like to try during my appointment.

Picking your bridal gown is a big deal and my experience at Sophia Grace Couture reflected that.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

My dress was everything I could have dreamed of! As soon as I saw it, I just knew that I had to try it on. I had been to bridal shops before and I thought that I had found ‘the one’ but I couldn’t stop thinking about this one dress! As soon as I walked into the shop it was on the mannequin and before I even tried it on, I knew it was the one. Trying it on sealed the deal! I chose a Wona Concept gown called ‘November’. I loved it for so many reasons, including the shape, neckline and matching veil. The flowers, intricate details and small sparkles were so beautiful and the dress is a combination of pretty and sophisticated. The most important thing for me when picking a dress was that I wanted to feel ‘like me’ in it and that’s exactly what I felt.

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

My husband and I met online in 2023. We met for our first date under the clock in Glasgow Central Station and had an amazing time. As soon as we met, we started spending so much time with each other as if we had known each other forever. He’s my best friend and we both knew quickly that we had found our person. In December 2024, we moved into our first home together and it was a Christmas to remember. On Christmas Day, he got down on one knee in our living room and proposed. Because we had not long moved, our living room had only a Christmas tree, lights and candles and a TV where he played a beautiful montage of our adventures so far. Our families were over the moon and we popped many champagne bottles that night!

What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

Our inspiration was a timeless and elegant aesthetic rather than a specific theme. We chose a neutral, classic colour palette, complementing the venue beautifully. To add a subtle touch of colour, our bridesmaids wore butter yellow dresses, which brought a fresh pop of happy colour and blended perfectly with the overall look. We also had some subtle yellow details throughout the wedding décor. We chose this because it is one of our favourite colours and exudes happiness.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

We fell in love with Lochside House Hotel as soon as we visited! We absolutely loved the different spaces for each part of the day, and we loved the views from the event rooms even more. We always wanted a venue that had a view and no matter what the weather, the Lochside House Hotel has a beautiful view. The spaces were so bright and open too, providing lots of space for our guests. The staff at the Lochside House Hotel were nothing short of fantastic. Nothing was a problem and they made our wedding planning experience so easy and fun! I cannot fault the staff team on our wedding day – absolutely wonderful.

Tell us about your wedding

Our wedding was really the best day of our lives. If I could put the happiness we felt in a bottle then I would. We ensured that our wedding represented us as a couple. Our aim was to have our favourite things incorporated into our wedding from our favourite colours, food, music and hobbies. I walked down the aisle to our favourite songs, including one from The Lord of the Rings and we drank my husband’s favourite whisky from the quaich during a personal, relaxed ceremony. It was the windiest day which certainly made the confetti fantastic, but some photos comical! We had games and an amazing magician who also blew everyone away. One big detail of our wedding was our 3D printed table plan that my husband made and seated LEGO minifigures designed to look like each guest. As a favour, our guests could take their own figure home – it was so personal and they loved it! We wanted our wedding to be full of fun, good entertainment and dancing!

What was the most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle and seeing my partner standing there. It’s a moment that I’ll never forget. I loved every single second of getting married and I would do it again in a minute. Having everyone we loved in the same room was unforgettable and a huge highlight for us. Celebrating with our loved ones and feeling the happiness in the room was so special. Having our family and friends as our bridal party and groomsmen was an honour. Our whole day felt like a fairytale.

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

I couldn’t recommend Sophia Grace Couture enough. Have fun, take your time and trust the process! Try on different styles and be open minded. You will know when you find the dress.
